Mental Health and Well-Being
We pride ourselves on offering a warm, nurturing setting in which children feel happy and secure and build a positive self-image.
A happy pupil is a successful one, which is why our team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff all work towards the same goal: that children enjoy learning!
We build opportunities for children to learn more about their own mental health and how they can build the tools they need to live happy, successful lives.
At St Patrick's we...
- Provide children with space to talk to an adult, play quiet, collaborative games and complete mindful activities every break time in our well being club.
- Explicitly teach children skills to protect their own mental health through our My Happy Mind curriculum.
- Ensure that children know how to 'check in' with their well-being in special Zones of Regulation areas in every classroom, as well as develop the tools to support themselves in each zone.

- Have built an environment where every child has access to mindfulness, calming activities to help them better engage with their learning.
- Buddy up our Reception and Year 6 children to support every child in having a fun, positive start to their school life.
- Work closely with families to support children in attending school and feeling supported and happy in our school environment.
- Work closely with the Calderdale Mental Health Support Team to better provide our children with targeted support that meets their needs.
