Personal Development and PSHE
As a part of your child’s education at St Patrick's, we aim to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive taught programme of PSHE that gives children and young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives, both now and in the future. We want our children to be prepared for safe and happy lives in modern Britain.
The Personal, Social, Health and Education curriculum covers body hygiene, healthy eating, dental hygiene, road safety, care of the body, avoidance of the misuse of drugs, safety, aspects of social and emotional behaviour, respect and tolerance for others. Through our PSHE curriculum we aim to develop positive attitudes and values that influence healthy patterns of behaviour, to explore and understand feelings, attitudes and values and to equip pupils with the skills to make informed choices for their current and future selves.
It is our aim that our pupils will become informed, active and responsible citizens who will play a positive role in shaping our society for the good. We strive to create an inclusive community where child well-being is at the centre, in order for every child to develop self-confidence, positive values and a caring attitude towards others.
Our PSHE and RSE curriculum complement one another and they are taught throughout a child's time at St Patrick's. We use Ten:Ten 'Life to the Full' and Pol-Ed to support our teaching and learning in this area alongside teaching Catholic Virtues and British Values. For further information about Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), please select RSE in the menu.
