Curriculum
We believe in building the knowledge and skills or our children so that they know and remember more, through the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum.
Our curriculum is structured so that we can promote excellence within a caring and christian community. We help each child to realise and reach their potential so that they are prepared for their next stage of learning and can enjoy life in all its fullness. Through the teaching of Gospel values and virtues education, children are taught how to be fulfilled, responsible members of our society. We build resilience in our children, teaching them to endure and persevere and how having a Growth Mindset helps us to achieve our potential. Our intent is to develop the spiritual, moral, academic, physical and emotional skills of every child. We nurture the well-being of every child. We develop the whole child.
We teach our children to be aspirational and give them the foundations to achieve their dreams. We are inclusive, our teaching is based on the knowledge that all children are unique and have differing abilities and educational needs and that all children should have the opportunity to thrive, feel valued and be happy at school. At St Patricks, we are an inclusive school community for all pupils in line with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
We develop a love of learning in our children and deliver a curriculum where skills and knowledge are revisited, built upon and developed and in each subject we have identified the essential knowledge for our children.
We know that for our children to flourish and become confident learners we must provide them with real life experiences; pupils at St. Patrick’s are provided with opportunities for enrichment and extra-curricular activities supported by our wrap around care, links with the church and the local community. We give our children memorable experiences so that they can draw upon that knowledge for years to come.
Please click on the individual subjects in the menu to find more information about how each area of our curriculum is taught.
At St Patrick's, we have mixed year groups and therefore we have adapted our curriculum to meet the needs of our children within our setting. We do this through having a 'Year A' and a 'Year B' curriculum overview for each class. Should you require more information about the curriculum, please contact the school office.
